Build & Scale Your Permanent Lighting Brand with G&D SMART
G&D SMART · STRATEGIC OEM/ODM BRAND PARTNERSHIP
Build a lighting brand that can scale. Not just another line of lights.
The hard part of growing a permanent outdoor lighting brand is not buying the first LED fixture. It is creating distinctive products, repeatable installations, a branded control experience, reliable service and a supply system your expanding dealer network can trust.
G&D SMART helps North American regional brands, growing installer businesses and national OEM partners develop coordinated lighting platforms—backed by SHLED's outdoor architectural engineering experience since 2009.
As your lighting brand grows, the problems change.
A new regional brand needs a reliable way to start. A growing brand needs its own identity and repeatable installation process. A national brand needs control over engineering, compliance documentation, service, software and long-term supply. A fixture-only supplier rarely covers all of those coordination needs.
01 / PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION
Your growth challenge
Your installers sell the same roofline lights as everyone else.
How G&D SMART helps
Plan a distinctive standard, professional and signature product family. Evaluate custom optics, RGBW/RGBCW behavior, fixture geometry, mounting profiles and agreed brand-specific development.
02 / INSTALLER CONSISTENCY
Your growth challenge
Ten crews install ten different ways—and callbacks multiply.
A generic App limits your identity and future product roadmap.
How G&D SMART helps
Start from the existing G&D SMART controller/App foundation. Scope private-label identity, firmware mapping and long-term release responsibilities; build installer workflows as the program grows.
04 / WARRANTY & SERVICE
Your growth challenge
A failed light or controller years later is difficult to replace.
How G&D SMART helps
Keep controlled model revisions, compatible replacement-part lists, support documents and firmware records. Plan device diagnostics and service workflows by actual implementation stage.
05 / GROWTH & SUPPLY
Your growth challenge
More dealers and seasonal demand make procurement unpredictable.
How G&D SMART helps
Agree qualification samples, forecasting, traceability, quality checkpoints, BOM change control, production allocation and critical spare-part plans; confirm manufacturing readiness for each order.
06 / COMMERCIAL EXPANSION
Your growth challenge
Your customers ask for restaurants, hotels and whole-property lighting.
How G&D SMART helps
Extend beyond roofline to matched landscape, wall-wash, linear and architectural solutions backed by SHLED project engineering—subject to project-specific design and compliance verification.
02 · ONE DOCUMENTED LIGHTING ECOSYSTEM
Your brand needs more than a light. It needs a system.
A credible permanent outdoor lighting supplier helps specify how optics, LED modules, tracks, cable, protected power/control outputs, firmware and installation records work together. A product roadmap can extend from standard roofline fixtures to distinctive signature optics, supported controllers, maintenance parts and future architectural applications.
Fixtures & Optical Differentiation
Build around the C5204 roofline family or qualified alternatives; scope custom optical effects, RGBW/RGBCW behavior, spacing, profile geometry and model-specific environmental requirements.
Custom molds and new optical platforms are engineering programs, not off-the-shelf features.
GC08, Wiring & Control Architecture
Plan the GC08 control platform with compatible voltage, protected branch limits, fixtures, cable and connectors. Use load and signal validation to define repeatable installation BOMs.
Output count, firmware functions and regulatory coverage depend on the exact delivered revision.
Compliance is part of the design, not a sticker added afterward.
G&D SMART can coordinate model-specific UL/ETL and Wet/Damp/Dry documentation planning for the intended system. An IP67 fixture or Class 2 design target does not by itself establish a Wet Location listing, nor does one product's certificate cover all revisions, accessories or control boxes. Review the compliance approach.
03 · THE SMART BRAND EXPERIENCE
The App is part of your brand relationship—not just a remote control.
When customers open an App every week, they experience your brand after installation. Software should be planned alongside the controller and fixture—not outsourced without clear compatibility, release ownership or customer-support boundaries.
Color & White Control
A configurable homeowner experience; hardware mapping and enabled channels depend on the approved product.
Scenes & Content
Build memorable effects and everyday use cases without separating the lighting experience from the controller.
Zones & Installation Setup
Support lighting zones and relevant installer configuration within a matched firmware / App release.

CURRENT FOUNDATION
G&D SMART App + Firmware
Device onboarding, lighting scenes, zones, OTA and installer-relevant settings are represented in the documented App baseline. Validate on the selected production controller.
PROJECT-BASED CUSTOMIZATION
Your Brand, Your App Identity
Qualified partners can define brand identity, selected features, firmware mapping, release responsibility and App-store arrangements through a scoped private-label development agreement.
PHASED SOFTWARE ROADMAP
Cloud, Installer & SaaS
Future or separately scoped modules may include installer project records, device ownership, remote diagnostics, OTA management, roles, warranties and multi-dealer administration. Do not assume a full commercial SaaS suite is already deployed.
The next opportunity may be beyond residential rooflines.
A regional permanent lighting brand has local customer relationships, installers and market access. SHLED brings experience in point lighting, linear fixtures, wall washers, landscape and architectural media façades. Together, these capabilities create a practical route to evaluate whole-property and commercial architectural lighting.
Start with nearby opportunities: retail storefronts, restaurants, hospitality exteriors, multi-property developments and carefully scoped façades. Product type, installation conditions and applicable codes must be assessed separately for each new project.

05 · ENGINEERING EVIDENCE FROM THE SHLED GROUP
Group project experience that goes beyond ordinary roofline installations.
SHLED, the broader engineering group behind G&D SMART, reports outdoor architectural lighting experience dating to 2009 and projects across building façades and large-scale controlled lighting. The examples below are SHLED group engineering cases outside the U.S.; they are not claimed as G&D SMART roofline installations or as evidence of U.S. product approval.

Project challenge: Complex irregular decorative geometry and time-sensitive on-site installation.
SHLED response: SHLED's published case describes modular pre-assembly and labels, drawings-led assembly and on-site commissioning support.
Why it matters: What a North American brand can learn: a supplier's value grows when it can help plan difficult commercial installations—not simply ship cartons.
Project challenge: An unconventional waterfront application required site-specific visual performance and integration.
SHLED response: SHLED's project report describes engineering coordination, on-site adjustment and commissioning for a 625 m² lighting display.
Why it matters: What a North American brand can learn: commercial opportunities can need application engineering beyond a standard residential lighting kit.
Project challenge: A large occupied building required a visually impactful façade without eliminating the transparent architectural character.
SHLED response: SHLED's case describes project-specific mounting geometry, a supporting frame and on-site integration planning.
Why it matters: What a North American brand can learn: roofline brands can evaluate a broader commercial façade product line when engineering resources are available.

Applying that expertise to a new North American project requires a separate product, code, engineering and commercial review.
06 · GROW WITH THE RIGHT PARTNERSHIP
Start where your brand is. Scale the partnership as you grow.
You do not need to fund a proprietary App, custom optical mold or enterprise platform on day one. Choose the amount of customization that matches your current business and long-term product strategy.
STAGE 01
Brand Launch
New or transitioning lighting companies
Choose a compatible starting system, evaluate a 100/200 ft sample where appropriate, confirm installation environment and build a first controlled BOM.
Working deliverables: Product selection / sample plan / basic installer documentation.
STAGE 02
Regional Brand Growth
Brands with recurring installation volume
Define own product families, differentiated optics or tracks, private-label App scope, spares, dealer-ready installation standards and repeat supply.
Working deliverables: Approved product roadmap / controlled BOM / scoped App plan / support-part mapping.
Working deliverables: Strategic OEM engineering plan / pilot validation / supply & software governance agreements.
07 · LONG-TERM TRUST
Brand growth requires control over what you build.
Your supplier should help protect repeatability and the business relationship—not silently substitute components, leave support responsibility unclear or make it difficult to service your installed base.
For qualified programs, agree a controlled BOM, sample acceptance criteria, change notices, warranty and service responsibilities, applicable certification documentation, critical spare parts, confidentiality, IP and tooling terms, brand-owned customer/data boundaries and a realistic supply forecast.
China / Vietnam supply planning: the SHLED Group describes a Dongguan manufacturing business and registered Vietnam manufacturing entity. Actual operating capacity, product origin, allocation and shipment readiness must be confirmed for each SKU and contract.
