Power Injection and Branch Planning

Plan power distribution, branch protection and signal continuity together. Control-box capacity alone does not define an approved run length.

Power and data solve different problems

Power injection provides a planned supply connection to a section of the lighting run. A signal amplifier regenerates data. Adding one does not perform the job of the other.

Prepare the branch drawing

  • Mark every fixture section, unlit extension and control-box location.
  • Identify the source, protection device, connector and conductor size for each branch.
  • Calculate branch load and cable voltage drop with the exact fixture specification.
  • Record polarity, common-reference requirements and the approved signal route.

Do not combine power outputs without an approved design

Use the power-supply and controller instructions for the selected architecture. Do not parallel independent outputs or join supplies through the light string unless the manufacturer has expressly approved that configuration. Ask for the complete wiring drawing rather than inferring connections from a three-pin connector.

Commission with a repeatable load

Evaluate the planned maximum-load scene and the most demanding channel combination. Record current, branch voltage and behavior after warm-up. A brightness limit used in software is not a substitute for the documented electrical rating or branch protection.

Record the final configuration

The approved package should include the bill of materials, output limits, wiring drawing, protection details and installer instructions. Preserve the revision so repeat installations use the same reference.

Apply this to your project

Send the fixture model, voltage, layout, cable lengths and intended control platform to G&D SMART. Request the current model documents and validate the selected configuration before production or installation.
