Wet and Damp Location Evidence

Check the exact marked product, certificate scope and installation conditions. Roofline placement and IP ratings do not establish location suitability by themselves.

Start with the marked product and installation instructions

Confirm the environmental use covered by the exact model's certification and instructions. A location beneath a soffit is not automatically suitable for every product; building geometry, exposure and installation method must be reviewed.

Keep ingress protection and certification separate

An IP rating describes an enclosure ingress-protection classification. It does not by itself establish a North American wet- or damp-location listing. A fixture, control enclosure, cable and connector can have different environmental conditions of use.

Review the complete installed configuration

  • Listed or certified model and hardware revision
  • Marked location rating and permitted mounting orientation
  • Required enclosure, connector sealing and cable entry
  • Applicable temperature and exposure conditions
  • Instructions for joints, cut ends and service access

Request a document package

Match the product label, certificate, report scope and installation instructions to the supplied item. If the intended installation differs, obtain written application guidance from the relevant manufacturer and certification body before specifying the system.
