Offline Schedules for Permanent Lighting

Evaluate schedule storage, timekeeping, restart behavior and solar-event calculation separately when specifying offline operation.

Separate local schedules from cloud schedules

A schedule that only exists in a cloud service can depend on an Internet connection. A local schedule needs to be stored and executed by the device or another local controller. Ask where the schedule is saved and what happens after a restart.

Timekeeping is a separate requirement

A controller needs a usable time reference. Review network time synchronization, local clock behavior, time zone, daylight-saving handling and recovery after loss of power. An external clock, crystal or backup source is a design option; none is implied for every G&D SMART controller.

Sunrise and sunset need additional inputs

Review how the controller obtains location and date, calculates solar events and applies offsets. Confirm whether those inputs and calculations remain available without Internet access.

Suggested acceptance checks

  1. Set a schedule and verify normal operation.
  2. Disconnect Internet while keeping the local installation powered.
  3. Check operation over the agreed evaluation period.
  4. Restart the controller and separately test a loss of power.
  5. Review time-zone and daylight-saving transitions.
  6. Confirm how an installer restores or changes the configuration.

Record controller hardware, firmware and App versions with the results. Confirm supported offline behavior for the supplied configuration; this guide does not promise identical functions across different control platforms.

Apply this to your project

Send the fixture model, voltage, layout, cable lengths and intended control platform to G&D SMART. Request the current model documents and validate the selected configuration before production or installation.
