Class 2 and Control-Box Documentation
Evaluate the exact power source, output limits and certification records. Keep control-box capacity, component approval and system certification as separate facts.
Review the source and each output
Class 2 is an electrical power-source and circuit classification. Request the marked output classification, applicable certification and conditions of use for the exact supplied source. A total enclosure capacity such as 350W or 600W does not establish the classification of an individual output.
Use a component evidence matrix
| Part | Required reference |
|---|---|
| Power source | Model, output limits, source classification and certificate |
| Controller | Hardware revision, maximum output and protection architecture |
| Fixture | Model, voltage, load and application instructions |
| Cable / connector | Conductor rating, pinout and conditions of use |
Keep standard names and certification claims distinct
Review the standards identified in the actual certificate. UL 2108 covers low-voltage lighting systems; UL 8750 covers LED equipment for use in lighting products. A standard reference alone is not evidence that a supplied product or complete system is listed.
Approve a configuration, not a headline
Record branch limits, protection devices, wiring drawing and component revisions. Confirm whether the documentation covers components separately or the assembled configuration. Request model-specific evidence before describing a product as UL Listed, ETL Listed or Class 2.
